Atmospheric Archetypes is a project centered around the transcendence of tragedy, focusing on the Aristotelian elemental archetypes of earth, fire, water, air, and aether.
The aim of this project was to explore how architecture can evoke story and convey meaning intuitively through symbolic qualities. To achieve this, I integrated emergent phenomena and delved into the dynamics of both the conscious and unconscious minds. My methodology focused on developing atmospheric archetypes from the classical elemental archetypes of earth, fire, water, air, and aether.

A PATH TO PEACE
Below the surface an emotional sea of grief surges. Pieced by this emotion the elevated landscape above begins to burn and decay.

With the old landscape burned to ash, a cold and illusory reality remains. Spires of darkness dominate the fallen world now engulfed by the raging waters.
Emerging from complexity the world rests on a new axis, narrower and colder than before. It is by return to the darkness that the path of reflection unveils. Its advancement the only way to restore the broken realm.
SENTIENCE
Sentience is a ‘sentient’ building situated at the heart of Wellington’s Central Business District. The landmark structure’s articulated façade animates responsively to contextual conditions as well as local and global proceedings, serving as an emotional beacon for the city.

Sentience being 372 metres in height sited at the heart of the city makes the skyscraper an appropriate candidate for photocatalytic and air purification systems.
